Alien Feelings 18/12/20
MM: Can you tell us about your Band and who’s your biggest influences
Hello, we are Alien Feelings. Our lead singer-songwriter and rhythm guitarist is Josh Evans. On Bass
we have Tim “The Sex" Jones. Our lead guitarist is Ryan “Red Eyed Jedi” Harrington. And our animal
behind the kit and bedroom doors is Dale Lloyd.
As far as influences go, we have had to answer this part separately.
Josh: John Lennon taught me that you can be fluid as a songwriter. That you don’t have to put a cap
on your artistic possibilities, and to just do whatever you want.
Ryan: Fat Mike, he taught me to just enjoy what were doing, no matter what others think, no
matter how many are at our shows, as long as we enjoy it who gives a fuck.
Dale: Keith moon. It was his style and his energy that made me want to sit behind a kit. I just loved
how he was so creative with his beats, his grooves he didn't play by the book so to speak.
Tim: Joe Stump, I first heard of Joe Stump while playing on an online flash game back in 2004. The
game itself is not important, the music that I was about to discover through some internet digging
was that of Joe Stump. I hadn’t really put much thought to music before this point, but the notes and
sounds he was able to create really triggered something in me, let me feel the music.
MM: Where do you draw your inspirations and ideas from
The inspiration for most if not all tracks is real life, the stuff that is taboo to talk about. Depression,
the feeling of helplessness, the road that no one likes to remember. We like to make these issues a
real thing in a musical form, no matter what you might think, you are never alone.
MM: What would you say is your Bands favourite song ?
There’s going to be four different answers here.
Dale: Lie to me. It’s simple and funky like.
Ryan: Radio because it’s fast. It’s more like the stuff that I listen to.
Josh: Scream, it’s just a good release to let it all out, it’s crazy and I love the crowd’s reaction when I
say “Chain me to the bed and piss on me.” Some older people find it shocking and I love it.
Tim: Dirty water, I love the rhythm of it and it’s psychedelic. Although we don’t know when we’re
going to be recording it properly, it’s a great addition to our live set.
MM: Plans tour and festival wise for 2020
Hahah, you having a laugh? 2020 has been a ballache from the start to say the least. We had 7 gigs
and a festival set for early 2020 and had to cancel it all. Right now we are focusing on recording
demo’s, so when the curtain is lifted we have a sprinting start.
MM: What can we expect from Alien Feelings live?
Mate. Pure drive and emotion. We were full on energy before the lockdown happened, and all we
have done since is create and push ourselves. Its going to be sexy…. And heavy!
MM: What do you like best and worst about touring
Well, we haven’t actually toured yet, but from what long distance gigs we have played, the journey
for one ( bus full of friends and family), the pre-gig drinks and hype, but most of all just being able to
perform and have fun doing what we all love.
MM: Which three Bands would be your ultimate touring buddies
Josh – The Beatles, The Who and The Rolling Stones... Imagine that.
Dale – Pink Floyd, The Who and Aqua!
Ryan – NOFX, Rancid and Reel big fish
Tim – Im going to pick Electric Six, just because I think it would be mental.
MM: Whats the most memorable concert youve been to (other than your own)
and why
Tim – I went to watch Slayer in the Apollo Manchester for the Unholy Alliance chapter 3. IT was
******* amazing. Jesus even just thinking about it gives me Chills ( in the best possible way ).
Josh – Lady Gaga at the MEN arena Manchester. I wasn’t a fan at all, I was dragged along with an ex
girlfriend but ended up having an incredible time. I saw just how good she really is and she
completely blew my preconceptions out of the water and I’ve been a fan of hers ever since.
Dale – ocean colour scene Carling Academy Birmingham
Ryan – NOFX - 02 Institute, Birmingham, It was the first time Id seen them, and the whole fucking
floor was a mosh pit. Snuff were supporting and they were fucking quality too.
MM: What do you feel has been your biggest accomplishment so far.
I’m (Tim) gunna speak for all of us here and say its getting our first EP Bondage and Lipstick recorded
and released.
MM: Which are your Two favorite Albums of all time
Tim – 1/ Slayer – Seasons in the Abyss
2/ Electric Six – Switzerland
Josh – I can’t pick two albums, I’m too indecisive.
Dale – Animals - Pink Floyd
Tommy - The Who
Ryan - .....And out come the wolves - Rancid
Dookie - Green Day
MM: Can you remember the first time you ever played live and how it felt to have people
watching you?
Tim – My first time playing live was December 2019, right before Covid kicked off. I was lucky, it was
in my local, surrounded by friends and family. I was scared at first but deep down I knew the effort
we put in practice before unleashing ourselves wasn’t going to be for nothing.
Josh – The first time I ever played live I would have been about 15 and it was at this little club in
Wrexham. It was a charity night called “Bands for balls.” Or something like that. I was opening for
Ben Barlow from Neck deep. I remember the excitement after I was done playing, the organiser was
telling me “You’ve got to stay, Ben Barlows on next!.” But I had no idea who he was, so I left and got
shit faced instead.
Dale – Ive played many many, many gigs, I cant remember if the 1st was at a 60th party or in my
back garden? Either way, I've never bothered by nerves
Ryan – I was nervous at first, but once we started it got easier
MM: Growing up which Bands posters did you have on your bedroom wall.
Tim – I was, and still am a massive Slayer fan, they always had the mantle position in my heart.
Josh – The Beatles
Nirvana
The Libertines
Buddy Holly
Dale – None, I had wrestling divas on my wall
Ryan – Mainly Green Day and Blink-182
MM - Who do you think influenced the world of Metal / Rock more than any other Person
Seeing as I’m (Tim) is writing this one, I’m gunna have to say it’s split Between Freddy Mercury and
Jim Morrison, but I’m sure the others will disagree.
MM - Whats the most important thing to the band right now?
Once again due to Covid-666, the main direction for the band right now is content. We are (as we
speak… literally at the same time as this…. Like, right now!) recording our 3 rd set of 4 demos’. nobody knows when this shit is going to end, all we can do is be proud that we haven’t just sat on our
hands for a year.
MM: If you could do a cover of any song which one would it be and why?
Josh – Twist and shout, cause why the fuck not.
Dale – None, I fucking hate playing covers
Ryan – Country Roads - Me first and the Gimme gimmes, Most people love it and this versions got a
good energy too it
Tim – I love SKA as well as metal, for us to cover anything Slayer or Madness would be a dream come
true.
MM: Tell us why we should buy and listen to your Band
Because we are exactly what your missing in life, the tongue in cheek attitude towards life. once you
listen you will feel a connection, and we only want to keep going and pushing boundaries.
MM: Four words to describe your Band
Josh – Doing our very best.
Dale – Sexy, Intelligent , poetic, PHAT
Ryan – New, awesome, different, weird
Tim – LAAAAAAAAAA!, MATE!!, HEAVY!
