                                                                                             Diseased Earth Interview 08/03/21

MM: Can you tell us about your Band and whos your biggest influences

We are Diseased Earth, a death sludge band based out of the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. We formed back in 2014 in the ashes of several local bands and decided to get together and play some heavy uncompromising music. Its hard to pin down just one set of influences, as each member has stuff that influences them. from grind to death metal to punk to even classic rock.

MM: Where do you draw your inspirations and ideas from

Lyrically, our ideas come from political/social ideas to stuff based on the Lovecraft Mythos to the human condition and emotions we go through

MM: What would you say is your Bands favourite song ?

its like picking your favorite kid haha. its so hard, we enjoy playing all of our songs. our current material might be some of our favorite to date, as we've been pushing ourselves to write better and more technical songs

MM: Plans tour and festival wise for 2021

Well as the pandemic is still going on, we currently are just laying low and writing and recording music. We've been using this time wisely and have a bunch of new material ready to do.

MM: What can we expect from Diseased Earth live

a very engaging show. each member is filled with intensity and for the audience to feel the power of the riff

MM: What do you like best and worst about touring

it's great getting out and playing new places and meeting new people, but probably the worst about it is lack of comfortable sleep, plus a good shower.

MM: Which three Bands would be your ultimate touring buddies

hmm that's a really tough choice there. i would have to say our friends Cut The Architects Hand, Vomit Stain, and Alluvion. all great bands and fun to watch live

MM: What's the most memorable concert you've been to (other than your own) and why

I would have to say probably seeing Crowbar and Goatwhore at The Golden Pony. It was  getting to see two bands we always wanted to see and playing on a stage we've gotten to play on several times as well.

MM: What do you feel has been your biggest accomplishment so far with

Probably getting to open for Crowbar twice, getting to play with Thou as well. Getting to play Skatopia was probably another big one for us as well.

MM: Which are your Two favourite Albums of all time

Slayer “Reign in Blood” and Black Sabbath “ Volume 4”

MM: Can you remember the first time you ever played live and how it felt to have people watching you?

there is always a bit of nerves before a show, but once that first note hits,it always goes away and get into the zone. being on stage and looking out and seeing people vibing to your music is probably one of the greatest feelings ever.

MM: Growing up which Bands posters did you have on your bedroom wall.

It was a mix of bands and pro wrestlers. it changed a lot, as was always discovering new bands and such

MM - Who do you think influenced the world of Metal / Rock more than any other person

Tony Immoi 100%. it was his guitar playing in Black Sabbath that influenced so many countless bands. Him and the rest of Sabbath made metal/rock what it is today

MM - What's the most important thing to the band right now?

Right now, its being safe in this pandemic. Once its finally safe to have shows again, we can't wait to get back on stage and tear it up.

MM:If you could do a cover of any song which one would it be and why?

This is something that has been a big thing in the band. we can't ever settle on a cover. there has been tons of back and forth on what we should do and we can't ever just find that one song.

MM: Tell us why we should buy and listen to your Band

We just want to show the people the power of the riff. I believe we have something fresh in a market of a lot of bands that tend to sound the same. it's really hard to pigeonhole us into one category, as our sound emcompasses a lot of different genres into one. We also have some riffs that you will find yourself humming for weeks afterwards, i know they always get stuck in my head.

MM: Four words to describe Diseased Earth

Heavy, loud, powerful, uncompromising

Final Words for your fans and our readers

We just released a brand new single “Coven of Leeches” that is available on all major streaming platforms. We also have plans to go back into the studio very soon and record several more tracks. Once the pandemic is finally over, we will be ready to hit the stage once again.
