                                                                                                   Release Date: 6th September 2019

Juliet Ruin hail from Edmonton Canada and have been in existence since 2015 having released an EP in 2017 touring extensively around Western Canada playing many festivals and shows gaining lots of fans with their groovetastic, funky fresh, inspirational and captivating sound they return on the 6th of September with their Debut Album “Old Stardust, Love and Chaos”.

The release gets under way with the super “Simple Wars” at first I was bit like err ok what is this with the start then bam.. hell yeah this mutha Rawks!!! The Vocals from the super talented and extremely  foxy Jess Fleming draw you in as you start the magical ride into “Old Stardust, Love and Chaos”  a platter  full to the brim with catchy hooks from Kent Geislinger and Dayn Armsworthy on Guitars combined with the rhythm section Cody Reid on Bass and Jesse K Bauman on Drums  this ten track work of art is a treat, especially when the dark and addictive “Spite” blasts outta ya speakers as Fleming grabs you around the throat and decimates your brain cells,  this song deals with the ego centric self-obsessed beings that seem to be more evident in the world today and if like me, you  believe in karma and have met such people in your life’s journey this is one that will tick many boxes for you as the intelligent and thought provoking   lyrics embed into your being.

What strikes me so much about this work is the way the songs ebb and flow and become one continuum of life’s struggles and how to cope and stick the middle finger up to those who will hurt you and not give in, believe me when I say I have been through two years of personal hell and coming out of it slowly this Album is just the anaesthetic I and you all need to listen to and bang your head, show those horns as “Violent Hands” and “Details Kill” works its way into your conscience. Now the piece de resistance for me is “FTW” which can have many connotations, for me its “Fuck The World”  the lyrics to this song actually gives me goose bumps every time I hear it, I just can’t get enough of this track  its delicious inspired venomous rapping is immense, amusing and catchy as hell.

The first single “Seasons” is up next it’s a change of direction a bit as the mainly clean Vocals tell the tale of Persephone and Hades in Greek mythology it’s a soul stirring piece with some chugging guitars and a classy solo thrown in to the mix. As we continue this rollercoaster mix of elements, emotions, fury and introspection every track seems to have  me replaying each song time and again as “With Only Rage” enters the room I love the twin guitars and old school Metal vibe as this one builds.

Up next Jess is spitting out the words with as much venom as a pissed off rattlesnake as “Charlatan” surprises and amazes you as does the penultimate song “Stay Gold” its enmity oozes out.

“Old Stardust, Love and Chaos” brings things to a close a meandering tale and another whose lyrics hit a nerve in this reviewer.

Let’s make no bones about it the world of Music is more cutthroat than it’s ever been and is a constant battle for a musician/s to get their sound heard amongst the hundreds and thousands of Bands out there, But I tell you this, these guys have the potential to be big although some of the lyrical themes are dark, these guys mix it up and  have delivered an addictive mix of seriousness and fun times, you can tell they are passionate about the music, the scene, everything in fact!

If you are into Halestorm, Jinjer, Killswitch Engage you are gonna fall in love with this group not just a bit. But madly and deeply! Grab a hold of this gem of a release on the 6th of September you aint gonna regret it , cos Juliet Ruin aint gonna "Ruin" ya day they are gonna make it !!
