Myosotis Interview 10/07/20
MM: Can you tell us about your Band and who’s your biggest influences
Ans:We are Myosotis, a six-headed Modern Metalcore Band from Hamburg, Germany.
With the band`s name, which is actually the botanical name of the flower “forget-me-not”, we want to create a feeling of a
community for our listeners. Everybody is welcome and has the worth to be remembered and the value as a person to belong to
something and to believe in something.
Many people nowadays suffer in silence and have to face the pressure of society, family, work and other outbound factors
alone. With the slogan \\WeAreMyosotis// we want to give them the feeling being part of something, that they can feel being
understood.
Our Influences are quite difficult to define, since we all have different orientations in the music we listen to.
We do not just come from classically Metalcore and Hardcore as well as Jazz, Prog, Djent and other rhythmical genres but also
Pop and Classic.
MM: Where do you draw your inspirations and ideas from
Ans:We try to process the topics which occupy us mentally. Lyrically we explore the depths of the human mind and process the
emotions of love-hate, depression, change and distance.
We combine melodic stanzas and refrains with brutal breakdowns and technical verses contrasted with the passionate guttural
and clean vocals.
We are the most inspired by having the chance spreading our vision and our songs, to be able to create something that lasts
and remains.
Actually the influences for our songs are changing a lot as well and we do not keep the exact same style for longer periods
since music is fluent and something that is frequently developing.
Furthermore we personally are also developing a lot which has a big impact for the band as well.
MM: What would you say is your Bands favourite song ?
Ans:No chance that we can agree about one particular song! We could give you 6 different favourite songs but even this will be a
hard decision for each of us. Our music taste has a huge range and we all listen to different kind of music, not just Metal or
Rock.
MM: Plans tour and festival wise for 2020
Ans:Unfortunately COVID-19 has a huge impact to us, as well as to the whole global music scene, therefore many of our planned
concerts have been cancelled or postponed.
We have some concerts left for the end of the year but honest speaking we are uncertain if they will happen or not.
31.10.2020 at Full Metal Mensa Warm Up, Musa, Göttingen DE, together with our best bodies in Tell You What
Now.
14.11.2020 at Hedgehog Festival, HeadCrash, Hamburg DE, together with Tragedy of Mine
05.12.2020 at The Great Unknown, Recklinghausen DE, together with One Final Fight.
Additionally we have some plans for some streaming concerts, which will be announced within short as well!
We hope that we will have the chance again to play some festivals and as many concerts as possible in 2021.
MM: What can we expect from (Myosotis) live
Ans:Relying on our slogan \\WeAreMyosotis// our concerts should be a big family reunion!
We want to use the stage to spread our vision and ideal of the Idea of Myosotis, that no one should be forgotten and everyone
will be remembered. The people should be energized with our power which we transfer through the stage directly to the people
and we want to give them strength to believe in their selves because that`s what a community can do for your when it comes
together.
Additionally our performances should be an experience for everyone who sees us for the first time. We want the people to enjoy
the time they`re watching us and to enable them to escape their daily struggles and to get back more recharged.
We welcome anyone, if he just wants to enjoy a beer while listening to some guitars or if he want to go totally wasted and get
crazy in the pit, there is space of everyone!
MM: What do you like best and worst abt touring
Ans:Being on the road with some friends, having the chance to spread our message and our vision is the best thing to us! Seeing
new faces each night and meeting well-known faces again means a lot to us as well! Within the last years met many people and
we enjoy spending time with them before and after the show. Discussing about music, life and receiving feedback directly about
our stuff and our progress is a good feeling.
The worst thing is probably that you don`t get any recovery during touring and it can be kind of stressful to hit many kilometres a
day, not getting enough sleep and maybe not even having a place to sleep but the positive things definitely prevail!
MM: Which three Bands would be your ultimate touring buddies
Ans: decision to make but we assume that most guys from us want to share a stage with Parkway Drive.
We follow the development of this band since their beginnings and it`s awesome to see with how much
pleasure and passion they play each show.
Another band would be Thornhill. These great guys also from Australia are young energetic and with
their style we are just addicted to them.
And for the last band we will always name are our friends in Tell You What Now from Berlin, Germany.
Since the first show we played together in our hometown, we shared some
MM: What's the most memorable concert you've been to (other than your own)
and why
Ans: we have to split our answer again. Some of us would recommend a Rammstein concert, other ones
would consider a concert of the prog legends of Tool as the most memorable one.
This shows again how different we are. Rammstein is the band with the most extravagant stage design in
the world and Tool is kind of the opposite. That does not mean that a Tool concert is boring or something
it`s just different from the art of visualisation and the focus of show and music.
MM: What do you feel has been your biggest accomplishment so far with
Ans:in the 3 years of our short band history we already had so many great moments, for witch we are
very grateful.
Shortly we signed with Blood Blast Distribution, which actually is a big thing for us and we are very
happy to join the team.
The most impressive show we played so far was as a support for the legendary guys in Meshuggah.
We listened to their songs since we are young and to play a show with them was a huge honor for us.
MM: Which are your Two favourite Albums of all time
Ans:All of us have 2 different favourite Albums of all time but if we have to come together we would name
the following:
Bring me the horizon – Sempiternal.
For us it was breath-taking in the genre of Metalcore. BMTH still have a huge influence to the scene and
also with their previous albums they have been leading the genre with new styles and techniques but
Sempiternal was another level. Also the visualisation for example with the video of Shadow Moses was
just insane.
Machine Head – The Blackening.
The length and the structure as well as the complexity of each song is a milestone and the significant song
writing from Rob Flynn and Phil Demmel is just amazing.
MM: Can you remember the first time you ever played live and how it felt to have
people watching you?
Ans:As children we started playing live in different ages but the earliest have been with around 5.
It have been some concerts from music schools in churches and stuff like this but our first concert as a
band was for us also something special.
We have been found in early 2017 and already in June we had the first gig on a festival 5 hours far from
our hometown. Usually you play your first concert and you invite all your friends, family, connection
from the local scene but having no one around was even more exciting because you have to convince an
audience which actually never heard anything from you before. Not even our first EP has been released at
this time but luckily it was a good show and we received some nice feedback, which encouraged us even
more in our beginnings.
MM: Growing up which Bands posters did you have on your bedroom wall.
Besides all the posters of girl groups, Christina Aguilera or Britney Spears we had pictures of bands like
Slipknot, Matt Heafy from Trivium, Björn Gelotte from In Flames.
MM - Who do you think influenced the world of Metal / Rock more than any other
person
We assume when it all started with Chuck Berry, the founder of Rock n`Roll...but when it`s more
detailed about the short time influence bands like Black Sabbath, Led Zeppling or Deep Purple should be
considered.
For our development personally and for the genres we love the most and which are the foundation of our
own music, guys like Wayne Static are very important. With his unique style, if in his outside appearance
or in the kind of music he created with Static-X, he gave us a direction in our early years. The
combination of Rock, Metal and industrial sounds together with electronical influences have been
revolutionary.
MM - What's the most important thing to the band right now?
That`s a simple question. It`s spreading our message, our vision and to reach out to as many people as
possible. We want to be heard to be a shelter for people who are suffering alone with their problems.
MM: If you could do a cover of any song which one would it be and why?
Covering is not our speciality but if we had to we would chose a classic song everybody knows
For example radar love from Golden Earring.
It would be a challenge to turn this evergreen to a Modern Metalcore song which sounds as if he would
have been produced today. Changing the arrangement, adding some backing tracks and some massive
base drops...some crazy stuff as long as we just do not replay the song.
MM: Tell us why we should buy and listen to your Band
Music is our passion and we do what we love with full commitment. We take the responsibility to treat
the topics our songs are dealing with with care. For us it is important to be able to be heard and that
people can feel better listening to our songs.
Actually it`s also ok if you just listen to our songs, there`s no need to buy also if we are about to drop
some new possibilities to purchase our merch, not only at our live shows.
MM: Four words to describe (Myosotis)
Strength
Unity
Emotion
Change
Final Words for your fans and our readers
Ans: At the end we want to share some news with you because on 17/07/2020 our new Single called “What
If...” will be released on all common streaming platforms, as well as on YouTube with a massive video,
if we are allowed to say that about ourselves.
We hope you guys will check it out and leave us a comment or a message if you liked it or not!
We are definitely exited to share it with you since we put a lot of effort, sweat and work in it and always
