MM - When was the band formed and how did you all discover each other's mutual taste in  Metal

NF:Well, we started as a band in 2008 or so... but in the very beginning we started as a covers band, you know... Just some friends playing together and having fun. There wasn´t any discovering process... Just a band having fun, playing some classics that begun to write some songs and after a few lineup changes and once we had a bunch of songs, we recorded our first album, and the rest is history. It was a very natural process like many other bands.

MM - What bands did you grow up listening to and how did they help in creating the style of music you perform today?

NFlWell, I grew up listening the bands from the 90's. The european power metal in those days became bigger and bigger and, for sure, it was a hugh reference for me. But there are many, and each member have different tastes, maybe those variety is what makes our sound like it is... Of course there is a middle point, but there are a lot of influences within the band members. Although the main style you can hear in our songs is heavy/power metal, there are some progresive parts here, a thrashy passage there... we love to make music no matter the style, if it fits and sounds good, is ok for us.

MM -Name an album you've heard recently and liked.

NF:Nightfear - Apocalypse ;)

MM - What one unique quality do your Band  have to offer that no other band possess?

NF:Uff... maybe I'm the worst person to answer this question.... The vibes that a band project and what makes it unique is something that is very subjective and depends of each person.

But from my point of veiw, maybe the key feature in our music is that we keep the melody and the aggresiveness all together in a very natural way, and, is not so often nowadays.

MM - Who writes the songs that you perform? Is it a solo or joint effort?

NF:There are two main composers in the band... Lorenzo (singer) and Ismael (guitar). We use to bring a more or less developed demo of the song, sometimes with a melody for the vocals, sometimes not... anyway, we use to compose the songs alone in our homes and then bring them to the rehearsal room and begin to work on them all the band together, arrange them and give them the final shape.

MM - Which  song is your personal favourite and why? Which one sends the crowds crazy at your gigs?

NF:From the last album... it's difficult to say, because it changes every week... maybe one of the songs I'm most proud  of would be Angels of Apocalypse... but it's very difficult to say indeed, becouse at this point we have heard all the songs about 1 million times, so, at the end you loose the perspective.

About the songs live... we haven´t played the new songs live yet, but in previous tours songs like Path of Victory, The Prophecy, Drums of War or Pride from our first album work very well.

MM:Whats the Metal Scene like in Spain

NF:I'm still trying to know it... jajaja Well, everything is a little bit hard nowadays. There is a scene, of course, but I think it's stuck in the pass. It's very difficult for a band like us to get some attention. People spend 100€ to go to an Iron Maiden show but don´t want to pay 20€ to discover some fresh stuff. But, I supose it's a matter of be there and keep the hard working and just be patient. With time I think that things will change, there are a lot of bands out there doing awesome music.

MM - How can people keep up to date with what the band are up to and do

NF:Well, we have an official website, which is www.nightfearband.com, we have a Facebook page also, www.facebook.com/NightfearMetal/, we have a Youtube channel which is Nightfear Official.... you know, the usual channels.

MM - If you had to choose only one of the following options, which one would you choose?
(a) a short lived career that will earn you fame and fortune
(b) the opportunity to make music for the next 50 years but without any real recognition.

NF:No doubt, A jajaja

MM - Who do you think influenced the world of Metal / Rock more than any other person, for better or for worse?

NF:I can´t say just one person, that's impossible, this is a team sport, the band bembers are the tip of the icebreg but there are a whole world of people working hard begind them, engineers, producers, managers, record labels, promoters... whitout them there is no Iron Maiden, nor Judas Priest... maybe the most influencial person in the metal/rock  scene is a guy in an office nobody knows. In fact, i'm pretty sure of it.

MM - How has the music media responded to the band so far.

NF:Impressively good. There has been a lot of awesome feedback from both of the spanish and foreign media.

MM - What's the most important thing to the band right now?

NF:Playing live with the new songs as much as we can and, well, the album has been released in Europe, US and Japan... So, let see if this could bring some oportunities from out from Spain.

MM - If one of your songs could appear on a soundtrack or any film or cult TV series, which one would you choose and why?

NF: Uff... it depends of the film or the tv show I guess... We can´t use Psichokiller for Pocoyo definitely... jaja. I'm more into classic orchestral soundtracks so, I don´t know, maybe a very fast chasing cars sequence with a lot of action, in a movie like Fast and Furious can fit very well with this song.

Five Questions:

1.Festival or Small intimate gig

NF:Both are great

2.Vinyl or Digital

NF:Digital

NF:3.Beer or Tapas

It must be both, I can not imagine tapas without a beer

4.Denim or Leather

NF:I'm not a classic metal fashioned guy, so none of them

5. Barcelona or Real Madrid

NF:Well, I'm the outsider of the band, becouse I'm not from Madrid, I'm from Bilbao so I would say none of them, but if you ask the rest of the guys I supose that the answer would be Real Madrid

NF: Thanks for the Interview!
