Peralis   Interview 29/02/20

MM - What was the highlight of 2019 for you as a band, and what was the funniest?

P:Our highlight of 2019 was signing a record deal with BMJ Records UK and getting to work with some amazing people in the industry like the good folks over at Rouge PR who have also been a solid team in our corner. The funniest highlight of 2019  for the band hands down has to be working with our wizard producer/engineer Michael Richards because his jokes are priceless, legend of a man.

MM - For any Peralis virgins out there, please introduce the band members to us

P:How it’s it going Peralis virgins, on vocals and lead guitar we have Ren, on Bass we have Kalebh, Moe drums and  AJ axe and vox.

MM - When was the band formed and how did you all discover each other's mutual taste in making music?

P:The band was formed in early 2019, but we all knew each other for many years from previous Irish metal bands we had either played with our toured alongside.

MM - How would you describe your music and what do you hope people will take away from your music and your performances?

P:We are essentially a metal band but we pull from all sub genres of metal keeping it fresh but hanging onto what’s real about heavy music.

MM - What bands did you grow up listening to and how did they help in creating the style of music you perform today?

P:Growing up we listened to everything that was loud. Slayer, Metallica, Motorhead, Suicidal Tendencies, Iron Maiden, Megadeth and Black Sabbath. These bands taught us to play from the gut, all in, blood, sweat and tears.

MM -Name an album you've heard recently and liked.

P:50 for 50 by Richie Kotzen. 50 brand new tracks by Richie Kotzen, need we say more!

MM - What one unique quality does your band have to offer that no other band possess?

P:I guess we are all about sounding like us, so that helps. We also like to approach the music business in our own way. Thankfully we all have years of experience in many different fields of the music industry, which helps us achieve this unique approach.

MM - Who writes the songs that you perform? Is it a solo or joint effort?

P:Ren writes the bones of the songs then brings them to the band where they get fleshed out, dissected and reborn.

MM - Which Peralis song is your personal favourite and why? Which one sends the crowds crazy at your gigs?

P:At the moment collectively it’s probably our recent single track ‘Primal Self’. The groove of the tune really gets fans hopping and brings out great energy from us and the audience.

MM - How can people keep up to date with what the band are up to and do.

Facebook would be the place to keep up with all our show/tour news, releases and general content. You can also follow us on Instagram, Twitter. P:Our music is available to stream/download via all major platforms Spotify, iTunes, Deezer, Amazon Music, iHeartRadio, and Google Play etc. Our video content is available on the Ren Marabou YouTube channel.

MM - If you had to choose only one of the following options, which one would you choose?
(a) a short lived career that will earn you fame and fortune
(b) the opportunity to make music for the next 50 years but without any real recognition.

P:As cliché as it sounds we are in it for the love of music so it would definitely be (b).

MM - Who do you think influenced the world of Metal / Rock more than any other person, for better or for worse?

P:Lemmy!!! The king and creator.

MM - How has the music media responded to the band so far and what's their biggest misconception about you?

P:The music media so far has been great to us. Lots of positivity which we are grateful for. No misconceptions as of yet thankfully.

MM - What's the most important thing to the band right now?

P:The most important thing to Peralis right now is our ever growing super supportive fan base. We hope we can continue to give these amazing people the sounds they love for a very long time.

MM - How do you feel about the internet and the effect it is having on bands and independent music?

P:The internet has a very positive effect on bands, signed or independent. So many resources are available to bands of all levels. It has given musicians the chance to build audiences all over the globe as well as connecting with people and companies in the industry.

MM - If one of your songs could appear on a soundtrack or any film or cult TV series, which one would you choose and why?

P:It would have to be Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure, for no reason other than we’d love to see them playing air guitar to one of our tracks, to then finish with an ‘EXCELLENT’

Five Questions:

1.Festival or Small intimate gig – P:Small intimate gig for sure
2.Vinyl or Digital – P:Vinyl without a doubt
3.Drinking Beer or getting high by other means  -P: Beer!
