Sweet N Juicy Interview
16th December 2019
MM: Which two tracks would you play me to introduce us to Sweet N’ Juicy?
Sweet (the Banana): Definitely check out Inconceivable. Our fans really like that song. Also watch our music video for Staycation. We got a bunch of our human friends to go crazy in a room with us on a Monday afternoon and filmed. That fire alarm had no chance.
MM: Can you give us details on tours/festivals for the rest of the year and going into 2020?
N’ (NefertitiPharoahSandraMundusIfilOpolis the Pineapple): We have a bunch of cool weekend runouts for the next few weeks, and in February we’re doing a West Coast tour! I it’s just runouts in Oregon and Washington until April, then we’re going to Montana and Idaho and stuff. Then another West Coast tour before the festival season begins. Applications are still ongoing for those, so we’ll keep you posted!
MM: What can we expect from Sweet N’ Juicy live?
Juicy (the Strawberry): Definitely expect to party! We are always excited to play, so we’re off
the walls and bouncing everywhere. We like to make sure that people have the best time they can. So, yeah, party!
MM: Can u tell me what you like best and what you dislike most about touring?
N’: I like seeing different places every night and meeting different people! Humans are super cool!Juicy: It’s true. There’s really nothing bad about the road as long as the people are cool, and the shows are dope. I guess Sweet likes to sleep a lot. Sometimes we can’t do that.Sweet: Yeah, I like to sleep. We’re working on a solution for that though. Tour van, baby!
MM: Who would be your ultimate bands to tour with?
Sweet: RHCP would be REALLY cool. Dave Matthews band would be a riot. George Clinton would be great to open for- and BECK! Oh good heavens, Beck. Vulfpeck is really cool. Yeah! All those people would be awesome to tour with.
MM: With so many Bands out there, how do you intend to stand out from the others?
N’: Hmmm… I guess I don’t see very many fruits on the road. Maybe we’re the only ones!
MM: When did you first realize you had such a musical talent and do you remember your first ever performance?
Sweet: My first gig was somewhere in Cleveland. Me and a couple other bananas had a band for a variety show out there. Crazy times ensued.Juicy: Probably a band concert. Outside of that maybe a rock club somewhere. Strawberries don’t have the best memory.
MM: What's the most memorable concert you've been to (other than your own) and why?
Sweet: When I saw No Doubt, Ruth Ruth, and Everclear. No Doubt freaking slayed it. I remember thinking, “Rockstar”. Gwen Stefani was like a gazelle, bouncing all over the stage singing good stuff. It was cool to see it.
MM: What do you feel has been your biggest accomplishment so far with Sweet N’ Juicy?N’: Putting out The Adventures of Sweet N’ Juicy was really cool. That album is an hour-long concept record with all our juice, sweat, and tears on it. We’re all super proud of that record.
MM: Which are your Two favorite albums of all time and what they have meant to you personally
Juicy: Demon Days by Gorillaz is by far my number one favorite album. That record’s like an essay. It’s perfectly crafted, the songs are beautifully written, and the production on that thing is top notch. Ridiculous players, too. Probably number two is gonna be Crimes by Blood Brothers. I can listen to that thing and never get sick of it. Good screamo gets my juices stoked.
MM: Where would you like to see yourselves in 5 years time?
N’: Touring half the year, writing half the year, and making bills from playing.
MM: Four words to describe Sweet N’ Juicy.
Sweet: Fruit Funk, Party Music.
MM: Can you tell me why we should check out Sweet N’ Juicy?
Juicy: You’re gonna have fun. The songs are fun, the performances are fun, all of it- it’s a party of fruity-funky-fun. We really like what we do.
Sweet N’ Juicy: Thank you for having us out, Metal Gods Meltdown! LOVE YOU! Facebook
