                                                                                                          Trumbiten  Interview 18/08/21

MM: Can you tell us about your Band and whos your biggest influences

My name is Tommy and I play the drums and write lyrics. My son Adam play the bass and together we form the metal duo “Trumbiten” from the city of Luleå (population 77 000), part of Norrbotten County (population 250 000+) in northern part ofSweden. Geographically, Luleå is not far from the Arctic Circle (approx. 75 miles or 120 km).

We started to play together, 5 years ago, just for fun and without any further plans. We are both into the metal genre and we started to play and experiment with parts of classic heavy metal songs with cool drumbeats and cool guitar riffs, e.g. Metallica, Ghost etc.

In the beginning, I played the drums and mixed/mastered our tracks and my son took care of the guitar and bass tracks. Soon, we started to experiment and record instrumental covers and wanted to share our music with family and friends. The idea of starting a YouTube-channel came up 2018 and at the same time we agreed on the name “Trumbiten”. We started the YouTube-channel early 2019 and uploaded different instrumental covers followed by our first cover on streaming media early 2020.

It was fun to play instrumental covers, but we wanted to develop our music further and decided to find someone that could add vocals. So, one idea was to add female vocals to cool covers such as Ghost-He is etc. So, I turned to SoundBetter and connected to different session musicians, which resulted in our first original song, with own lyrics, that was released September 2020, “Fear Me”.

And, now we are about to release our first original EP with three songs…This is really awesome and was never on our minds only 2 years ago.

MM: Where do you draw your inspirations and ideas from

My interest for the Metal genre got a real kick when I heard Metallica’s track “Whiplash” on the radio first time, I think mid 1984, …after that I was fully into heavy metal.

Bands like Ghost, Dissection, Metallica (Lars Ulrich, since he is a great inspiration for me as a drummer).

MM: What would you say is your Bands favourite song ?

It is the “Fear Me” single that we released September 2020.

Also, Metallica’s Sad but true is a favourite cuz we have played it many times when we started to play together. Another favourite is Ghost-He is which we recorded with a female vocalist

MM: Plans tour and festival wise for  2021

No, such plans

MM: What can we expect from you guys live

We are newcomers and are in phase where we want to create music and at the moment we focus on studio work

MM: What do you like best and worst about touring

We have never toured

MM: Which three Bands would be your ultimate touring buddies

Ghost, Metallica and Amaranthe

MM: What's the most memorable concert you've been to (other than your own) and why

MM: What do you feel has been your biggest accomplishment so far with

We are really proud of first single and the upcoming album (May 14th)

MM: Which are your Two favourite Albums of all time

One album that has played an important role for the metal duo Trumbiten is Metallica’s Black Album as it has been one album that we had as inspiration when we started to play together.

Another album that has played an important role for us is Ghost-Meloria and that is the first cover that we recorded with vocals.

MM: Can you remember the first time you ever played live and how it felt to have people watching you?

MM: Growing up which Bands posters did you have on your bedroom wall.

AC/DC

MM: Who do you think influenced the world of Metal / Rock more than any other person

One of my favourites is John Bonham (as I’m a drummer) and Led Zeppelin

MM : What's the most important thing to the band right now?

The release of our album May 14th and the plan for a second album during the fall

MM: If you could do a cover of any song which one would it be and why?

We would like to re-do the He is cover

MM: Tell us why we should buy and listen to your Band

We are a newcomer and a duo and we need to be creative both in ways of working (how to go from idea to a final product) by working with professional musicians globally and to finding a theme, touch and tone that might appeal to new listeners.

Hopefully you’ll find some value in the lyrics and get energy from the groove

MM: Four words to describe your Band

Energy, Groove, Innovation, Collaboration

MM: Final Words for your fans and our readers

Follow your dreams, listen to your emotions and keep rockin’
