Blood of Angels Interview 3/01/22
MM: Can you tell us about your Band and whos your biggest influences
Blood of Angels is a metal band based in Tampa, Florida. The band began in
2015. Since it’s inception the band has released our debut EP “Rise of the Fallen
Gods” in 2017 and our full-length album “Failure of Faith” in 2020. In support of
the album, we toured continuously throughout the US. Currently we have recently
released an original single titled “Spillage.” After the New Year, we will begin
writing and recording our follow up album.
The bands biggest influences are Slayer, Amon Amarth, Slipknot, Lamb of God,
Pantera, and Dark Tranquillity.
MM: Where do you draw your inspirations and ideas from
We like to do concept albums and tell stories with our music. Our last album the
“Failure of Faith” is a concept album regarding the three main monotheistic
religions of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. The first half of the album explores
the beginning and origin of these three faiths. The second half of the album goes
into how these three religions have manipulated humanity into committing
atrocities against one another in the name of gods that don’t exist.
MM: What would you say is your Bands favourite song?
I think our favourite song to play live is “Blood of the Lamb.”
MM: Plans tour and festival wise for 2023
Not for 2023, we plan on focusing to write and record a new album.
MM: What can we expect from (Band Name) live
We are a band of high energy performers. We intermix with the crowd and make
the audience a part of the show. We also include projections to emphasis the
meaning of the songs.
MM: What do you like best and worst abt touring
What I love best about touring is connecting with my fellow metal fans everywhere
we go. For me, I don’t have a bad thing about touring. That is my favourite part of
the business.
MM: Which three Bands would be your ultimate touring buddies
Fear Factory, Lamb of God, and Pantera
MM: What's the most memorable concert you've been to (other than your own)
and why
Clash of the Titans back in 92. Seeing Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax on tour together for the
first time was mesmerizing. It is still my favourite show I every attended. All three bands came
out with their most notable albums at that time.
MM: What do you feel has been your biggest accomplishment so far with
Winning the Best Metal/Hardcore Song at the 16th Annual Independent Music
Awards in New York City. That award has been one by some bands to go on to
awesome careers. I was so surprised when we were announced the winner. I
screamed “holy fuck” from the back of the theatre on our way to collect the award.
MM: Which are your Two favourite Albums of all time
Ozzy Osbourne “Randy Rhodes Tribute” and Slayer “Christ Illusion”
MM: Can you remember the first time you ever played live and how it felt to have
people watching you?
I can, it has been 30 years now. I was in a band called Genocide in Columbus,
OH and we played at a place called Freakin Pizza. It had a stage in the area
people would sit to eat. What an awesome local venue. It was packed every
Friday and Saturday no matter what band was playing. There was an awesome
support for the local metal scene at that time. I just couldn’t believe seeing a
mosh pit in front of me, and people going crazy for a song we wrote.
MM: Growing up which Bands posters did you have on your bedroom wall.
Metallica, Megadeth, Cannibal Corpse, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Nuclear Assault,
Forbidden, Morbid Angel, King Diamond, Venom, Iron Maiden, and so many more.
MM - Who do you think influenced the world of Metal / Rock more than any other
person
Little Richard for rock and metal. Little Richard as well as the Beatles were
Lemmy’s biggest influences. From those influences Lemmy formed Motorhead
and created a unique sound that no band was doing. Motorhead was heavier and
faster than any other band at that time. Motorhead influenced and the early thrash
bands, who influenced the black and death metal bands. The musical influence
tree continues.
MM - What's the most important thing to the band right now?
Right now, is to write and record a new album.
MM:If you could do a cover of any song which one would it be and why?
Fear Factory “Fear Campaign”, this song does everything a metal song should
do. Even with the studio version of this song it hits all emotions. It is heavy, fast,
and has some awesome vocal harmonies. The lyrics are so brilliant. “What do
you fear,” “Fear is your god,” is just genius.
MM: Tell us why we should buy and listen to your Band
I don’t know, ask the people who do. Give it a listen. If you dig it awesome. If
