Melt Interview 18/09/20
MM: Can you tell us about your Band and whos your biggest influences
We are Melt, french dark rock band, we exist as a band since 2015, but Charlotte (guitarist singer) and I, Olivier (guitarist) know each other since 2007 and we’ve always been working on music together. I can’t tell you much more about the actual line-up because there are changes, evolution… but Charlotte and I are the irremovable core of Melt. Jux plays the bass and Romeo the drums but this little rascal tends to disappear these times, i wonder if we still have a drummer.
I'm not familiar with the concept of influence, I just play music and if i'm lucky enough to be inspired good tunes come to me.
MM: Where do you draw your inspirations and ideas from
From calm, inner peace, nature.
MM: What would you say is your Bands favourite song ?
Maybe... Opikanoba, a very simple and efficient song.
MM: Plans tour and festival wise for 2020
None of that, we took a break to record our 2nd album, so the plan now is to gather the band and start rehearsing again.
MM: What can we expect from Melt live
Sincerity, wrong notes.
MM: What do you like best and worst abt touring
Playing our music outside, I mean on a stage that is outside, not into a concert room. The beginning of a concert, when the tension is at the maximum, and then the moment when you've tamed this tension. The worst is the wait before you go on stage, of course.
MM: Which three Bands would be your ultimate touring buddies
Sixteen Horsepower, Current 93, Nirvana.
MM: What's the most memorable concert you've been to (other than your own) and why
First time I saw Iron Maiden, because it was the first time. And AC/DC, bc we almost get crushed by the crow, tant was insane
MM: What do you feel has been your biggest accomplishment so far with
I'm pretty happy Billy Goate liked our 2nd album, The Secret teaching of Sorrow, and said nice things about it and our band
MM: Which are your Two favourite Albums of all time
Secret South by 16 Horsepower, Autumnal by Legenda
MM: Can you remember the first time you ever played live and how it felt to have people watching you?
It was hard. Fright stage you know, really difficult. It took time for me to be able to appreciate playing on stage
MM: Growing up which Bands posters did you have on your bedroom wall.
Haha. Iron Maiden mainly.
MM - Who do you think influenced the world of Metal / Rock more than any other person
Who knows? Classic music maybe. Listen to The summer by Vivaldi, that's insanely metal.
MM - What's the most important thing to the band right now?
Work, work, work.
MM:If you could do a cover of any song which one would it be and why?
Hum let's say... Countess Bathory by Venom, a great classic.
MM: Tell us why we should buy and listen to your Band
Because you've never heard that, I swear.
MM: Four words to describe Melt
Cinematic, metaphysic, raw, tender
Final Words for your fans and our readers
If the people of the world finally decide to make a revolution against capitalist pigs, we'll see you behind the barricades my friends.
