                                                                                                      Michael Webster interview 22/11/22

MM: Can you tell us about your Band and whos your biggest influences

I’m a singer-songwriter based here in Manchester, having performed across the city for the past few years! I run events, work with local artists and run a label, as well as perform my own music several times a week. My main influences would be artists such as Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Nirvana, and even artists such as Mac Miller haha.

MM: Where do you draw your inspirations and ideas from

Most of my songs are written from a real personal point of view, being influenced by my surroundings or my opinions. I often find it real easy to get songs down for this, I’m running at over 70 now!

MM: What would you say is your Bands favourite song ?

I’d probably have to say “single malt” - it’s a real personal song to me, written out of pure emotion and it all came together at once. It’s pretty sad but often a very regularly requested one!

MM: Plans tour and festival wise for 2022

For the rest of the year, I’ve not got so much on - but I’m hoping to get a nice little show sorted for Christmas time with a bunch of my friends playing with me and have a good old time!

MM: What can we expect from (Band Name) live

Northern accents, angsty songs, and shouty lyrics.

MM: What do you like best and worst abt touring

Probably playing shows, it’s a real rush. Worst thing would be the fact that I still have to do all the work behind the scenes while I’m away!

MM: Which three Bands would be your ultimate touring buddies

I’d love to tour with Phoebe Bridgers and Conor Oberst, their songwriting chemistry is beautiful - and it’d be amazing to share a stage with Wolf Alice

MM: What's the most memorable concert you've been to (other than your own) and why

Probably Charli XCX earlier this year hahah. It was proper mental, a room of thousands of people just going mental.

MM: What do you feel has been your biggest accomplishment so far

I think definitely running my label - we’ve got a load of fantastic artists signed and it’s a real lovely family of musicians. I’m super proud of all the music we’ve worked on together!

MM: Which are your Two favourite Albums of all time

Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly, and Phoebe Bridgers’ Punisher. Completely opposite ends of the spectrum!

MM: Can you remember the first time you ever played live and how it felt to have people watching you?

Oh, it was so long ago but I remember it so well. I was so nervous, I played 3 Bob Dylan covers - it didn’t go so well, but everyone was super supportive; it was fantastic to see.

MM: Growing up which Bands posters did you have on your bedroom wall.

Probably around 100 posters, but definitely A Day To Remember was up there.

MM - Who do you think influenced the world of Metal / Rock more than any other person

Jimi Hendrix. His guitar style inspired so many people to start playing!

MM - What's the most important thing to the band right now?

Finishing projects.. got loads in the works!

MM:If you could do a cover of any song which one would it be and why?

I often do a cover of Kate Bush’s Cloudbusting - gorgeous song, one of my favourite albums!

MM: Tell us why we should buy and listen to your Band

If you like lyricism, in-depth songwriting and nice little chord progressions I’ve got you covered.

MM: Four words to describe you

Northern, thought-provoking and inspired.

Final Words for your fans and our readers

Keep your eyes peeled for some stuff on the way!
