MM: Can you tell us about your Band and whos your biggest influences

We are The Jailbirds, a rock n roll band from the Toronto area of Canada! We play loud, classic and modern rock inspired music, with influence from a wide variety of other genres and eras of rock music as well. Our mission is to play what we feel sound good to us! Some of our fav bands include Soundgarden, Alter Bridge, GN’R, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, bands like that!

MM: Where do you draw your inspirations and ideas from

It can be from anywhere or from anything. Our song The Black River, for example, was inspired by playing a video game! Other songs are inspired by real life experiences and/or troubles. And then there are some songs that are just complete fantasy/fiction. There isn’t just one place from which we get our inspiration from, and I think that helps us be more creative and fresh.

MM: What would you say is your Bands favourite song ?

Hmmm that is a good question. Collectively, we all jam to Monster Trucks’ “New Soul” a lot! That is such a great song, maybe we should cover it!

MM: Plans tour and festival wise for 2021

Staying home unfortunately, due to COVID-19. Hopefully we can get some opportunities to play live this year safely!

MM: What can we expect from The Jailbirds live

You can expect a high energy, loud ass rock n roll band melting your face!! We put everything into every single performance, and we’d love to show you what we got! Our whole lives are based around making the show a success. Come out to a show when the world is back to normal and see for yourself! We’d love to meet ya.

MM: What do you like best and worst abt touring

Best: definitely the hangs and the people you tend to meet along the way…. Oh and the shows of course!! Nothing is better than getting on a stage and playing your heart out!

Worst: the long drives through Canada hahaha it can take forever to get to the next city sometimes!

MM: Which three Bands would be your ultimate touring buddies

Revive The Rose from Welland ON, Crown Lands from Oshawa, ON and Monster Truck from Hamilton, ON !!! These guys are all gems, check them out NOW =)

MM: What's the most memorable concert you've been to (other than your own) and why

The most memorable for me (Myke) was when I went to Berlin to see Montser Truck perform. It was unreal to be in such a healthy music scene, everyone was having the time of their lives and it was magical. You unfortunately don’t see such responses in North America too often, that needs to change!

MM: What do you feel has been your biggest accomplishment so far with

Our biggest accomplishment so far has been our hit single Watery Grave, granted with a spot on the prestigious Hard Rock playlist by Spotify among others. It has gotten such a great response so far, and we are so grateful that so many people are liking our song! It really means to world to us. Thanks for streaming!

MM: Which are your Two favourite Albums of all time

Appetite for Destruction and Badmotorfinger

MM: Can you remember the first time you ever played live and how it felt to have people watching you?

Yeah I remember the first time for sure, it was when I was in middle school for a talent show, my friends and I played School’s Out by Alice Cooper haha it was a very interesting experience for sure. But by then I was already pretty used to people watching me perform Tae-Kwon-Do at tournaments, so it didn’t feel too out of the ordinary honestly. Just had a guitar strapped to me this time!

MM: Growing up which Bands posters did you have on your bedroom wall.

ACDC, Guns N Roses, Metallica, the big names mainly !

MM - Who do you think influenced the world of Metal / Rock more than any other person

Little Richard! 10000000% without a doubt the most influential entity on modern rock n roll music IMO. Why? He was the first one to scream !! No it wasn’t Plant, Gillan, wasn’t McCartney, they were all copying Richie =) Look him up!! He was doing that stuff way before anyone else was, and now it’s a MASSIVE part of rock music. From Deep Purple to Van Halen to GN’R to Soundgarden to Alter Bridge. All of it started with Little Richard wailing on those high notes!!

MM - What's the most important thing to the band right now?

You need to understand that you cannot get by on raw talent alone anymore. You need to know how things work, practice, learn about the industry, etc. There is no room for anything else and you won’t go anywhere if you don’t expand your horizons past playing the music.

MM:If you could do a cover of any song which one would it be and why?

Definitely Highway Start by Deep Purple! It’s such a classic song, and we actually play it live quite often. It’s one that’s not only fun, but everyone can get down to it too.

MM: Tell us why we should buy and listen to your Band

If you enjoy rock music in any capacity, you will enjoy our band. We are just a bunch of nerds playing some instruments, but we do take our craft seriously and try our best to progress our skills every day. We play what we like, and what we feel is lacking in todays rock scene. If you enjoy guitar solos, harmonies, high soaring vocals, and you miss the vibe of old school records, you will love us. We are the perfect blend of classic and modern!
